Acquisition of Simon Parsons & Co - Deeds and Security Documents

We are excited to announce that we have recently acquired the Deeds and Security Documents from Simon Parsons & Co.

If you previously had documents stored with

Simon Parsons & Co, they are now located at our office

at 65 Princes Highway, Trafalgar.

We are currently processing the Deeds and Security Documents and we will contact you as part of this process, though this will take some time. In the interim, should you have any questions about your documents, please refer to the information below.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What documents are now held by J MacGregor Legal?

Documents may include Certificates of Titles, Wills, Powers of Attorney, Mortgages, Deeds and Agreements.

2. Do I need to sign anything or take any action?

No. You do not need to sign anything or take any action.

3. How can I confirm what documents you hold for me?

Contact us using our contact details on our website. To protect confidentiality, we may ask you to verify your identity (for example, your full name and address) before we confirm any document details.

4. Can I request copies of my documents?

Yes. You may request copies to be emailed or posted to you. Before providing copies, we may require proof of identity and a written authority.

      Please note:

  • We can only provide copies of Security Documents/Deeds to the person whose Deed it is.
  • We cannot provide a person appointed as a Power of Attorney with copies of any Security Documents/Deeds (except the Power of Attorney document itself).

5. Can I request the release of my original documents?

Yes. You may request the original documents to be released to you, subject to:

  • Our office verifying your identity and your authority to receive the document (including where you act for a Company, Estate, Trust or another person);
  • confirmation that we are not required to retain the document due to Law, Court Order, Undertaking, Lien, or other professional obligations; and
  • completion of any required release Authority or Acknowledgement we request.

Unless otherwise agreed, originals are generally released by:

  • Collection in person by you (or your authorised representative) from our office; or
  • registered post or courier to a nominated address at your cost and risk.

If you do not require the original to be released, we can provide a certified copy (where appropriate) or a scanned copy on request.

6. I engaged Simon Parsons & Co previously. What if I need access to documents from a completed file?

Our office only took ownership of Security Documents/Deeds and completed Will files.

If your enquiry relates to a completed Estate, Family Law, Personal Injury, or Conveyancing matter, we do not hold any of the completed files and cannot assist you in this regard.

7. I have not received correspondence from your office but think you might hold documents for me. What should I do?

If you believe Simon Parsons & Co held Security Deeds on your behalf, it is possible we do not have your current contact details.

Please call our office and provide your updated contact information so we can check whether we hold anything for you and update our records.

8. I previously had documents prepared by Kevin Davine & Sons in Warragul

- do you hold those documents?

Yes. We hold all documents that were previously prepared by Kevin Davine & Sons in Warragul and subsequently held by Simon Parsons & Co.

9. Can I update or review any documents held by your office?

Yes. Fees and pricing depend on what needs updating and how long ago the document (including a Will) was prepared. Please call our office to obtain a quote.

10. Is there a fee for you to hold my Deeds in Safe Custody?

No. There is no fee for us to hold any documents in safe custody.
